A week later we find Jack and Shirukin outside, Shirukin is training Jack how to use his powers. Jack uses his first power, he lifts up his hands and then a burst of energy came out. This time Jack has even more control of it, he can actually aim it at things. “Well you seem to have control of that power. Lets see your other powers.” Shirukin asks. Jack doesn’t know of any other power that he has. He gives Shirukin a puzzled look. “Well just try something.”  Shirukin asked. Jack lifted his hands up again but this time he lifts up a rock and then he throws it hits a tree with great force. Day turns to dusk and once again Jack and Zane are alone. It’s the first time that the pups are out on a hunt. So Jack and Zane are alone for the first time. It’s been a quiet night so far, there’s nothing going on. Jack and Zane are outside; they are waiting for the others to come back from the hunt. So Jack and Zane decide to go for a walk. As they are walking they notice a lone wolf wandering around in the woods. He has bite marks and scars all over his body. They go up to him with caution, just incase it’s a trap. Then Jack hears the wolf’s mind, it’s saying how can they do this to me? Why did they do this to me? I was loyal to them. Then Jack realizes that it must be one of the members of the Darkpool pack. The wolf turns out to be Darkwish, a scout he was usually looking for Jack. Jack walks over to him and asks “How did this happen?” Darkwish replies “They said that I wasn’t doing what I was supposed to be doing. So they ganged up on me, attacked me, and left me for dead. I plan on regaining my strength and get back at them for what they did to me.” They take Darkwish back to the den. Shirukin and the others still haven’t returned. When they get back they all question why Darkwish is here. Jack explains the story to him. He tells Shirukin privately that he still doesn’t trust him, but everyone else does. Only Shirukin, Jack, and Zane are the only ones who don’t trust him.
As the days go by Jack gets better with his powers. He can control them better; he even has a few new ones. One day Jack,
Shirukin and Darkwish are talking. They ask him why he left Darkpool. He said that they kicked him out for not doing his job. Then he says that he wants to get back at them for what they did. Jack and Shirukin still don’t trust him, but they decide to let him stay. Every day that Jack is training Darkwish is always there watching him. Jack wants to tell Shirukin but he thinks that Darkwish is just curious.  Finally one day Jack tells Shirukin about Darkwish and what he has been doing. They both want to kick him from the pack but, something tells them that he really wants to get back at Darkpool. The next day Jack, Zane, and Darkwish are watching the den while the others are out. Jack and Darkwish are talking; they are talking about what it was like before there was ever a chosen one. Darkwish said that every pack of wolves lived in harmony until one faithful day. The first wolves in the Diablo Pack rebelled against the ruler pack witch was Treesong. The day ended in a blood bath. At least twenty wolves were killed from then on the Diablo pack went out on their own and on that day they vowed that this will happen again. “That’s your job; to stop the Diablo Pack and Darkpool form bringing the darkness back”. Darkwish explained. How long do we have before that day comes?” Jacked, asked. “About two more months, but there will be a few small battles before the final battle.” Darkwish said.
The next day Jack tells Shirukin what Darkwish said about the battles. They are both wandering if Darkwish is telling the truth. If he was lying the battles might be sooner then they think, but when will the battles actually happen? They could be tomorrow, or they can be in a year. They start to worry, but they think that Darkwish is actually telling the truth. Why would he tell Jack all of this information if he was against them? Soon after Darkwish is nowhere to be found. Where did he go? He hasn’t been seen since he was with Jack.
Darkwish is now in the woods talking to someone. “Is everything going according to plan?” the voice asks. Darkwish replies, “Yes everything is going to plan.” The voice then says, “You must get him to follow you here. That’s when our plan will work.” Then the wolf disappears into the night. Darkwish heads back to Treesong. When he gets back he says that he went out to catch something, but says that he had no luck. He then goes off to bed. Jack and Shirukin go to Maple Leaf to tell them what’s going on. They tell them about how they found Darkwish and that he is living with them. They also tell them the he has been watching Jack train and that they find it very suspicious. “Do you trust him?” Newstar asked. “No, because he seems that he is up to something.” Shirukin replies. When they are done talking Shirukin and Jack go back to the den and find Darkwish outside waiting for them. He tells them that Frostfight came by while they were gone looking for Jack. They don’t believe him so they go and asked Zane and she said that he did come but didn’t harm anyone. Now Jack and Shirukin are beginning to trust Darkwish. With that in mind they don’t mind him living with them.
The next day Jack is getting more training and as usual Darkwish is watching him. Jack doesn’t seem to mind him watching, later that day Jack, Zane, and Darkwish are left alone watching the den. They are talking to each other; it seems that they are becoming a lot closer.  It’s like they always knew each other. When the others get back they see Jack, Zane, and Darkwish together it seems to them that Darkwish has made himself at home. That is just what Darkwish wants, for them to trust him so he can get Jack alone with him so the plan can go into action. When that day comes the darkness will return and Jack will become theirs or so they think. Jack has become stronger and that is a problem because they might have only one chance to capture him before the battle. So if they want to capture him again they might have to wait until he is weak, but that’s what they want to use the small battles for, so they can get him to use his powers. They know that if they can get him to use his powers he will become weak and that he will have to regain strength before he can use his powers again. That’s when they’ll try to capture him again.
